Rebecca – Visiting Teacher

Growing SuperKids at Home

Kia Ora, I am Rebecca, a Visiting Teacher at Just Four Kids.

I live on a farm in Waikoikoi with my husband, and our 2 children who are 9 and 6. I have been teaching in the ECE sector in a variety of roles over the last 14 years, since graduating with a Bachelor of Education 0-8 years from Otago University. I have previously been a teacher in preschool and nursery rooms, a visiting teacher as well as a Team leader and 2IC in ECE centres. I have some experience in junior primary school teaching and am very passionate about getting the transition to school right for our Tamariki. I know that local schools are working alongside ECE providers to make this as smooth as possible, so I am looking forward to advocating for Home based care in this space. I am hoping that this variety of knowledge and experience will enable me to provide you with some valuable support as we build relationships and work together to provide the best environments possible for the Just Four Kids tamariki.

What drew me to become a visiting teacher Just Four Kids?

The emphasis on kotahitanga and creating a community. Suzy encourages collaborative art projects, group excursions and meaningful communication to create unity within the Just Four Kids whānau. I enjoy supporting educators in their journey to provide meaningful, homely, learning environments and I hope to add value to the community that is Just Four Kids.
