Hi my name is Nicola Cowan and I am the visiting teacher in Te Anau. I live in Te Anau with my 7 year old son. I have a Bachelor in Teaching and learning, Early Childhood, and am fully registered.
I have worked in various centres and have worked alongside all age groups. I believe that the early years of a child’s learning make a significant difference to the way they develop and go on to learn throughout their lives. Getting it right at this vital stage will build the lifelong foundations of success. It is important to encourage children’s decision making, problem solving skills and independence by offering choice and positive experiences, while supporting children at the same time. I enjoy seeing children challenge themselves and learn through play, especially outdoors. I love walking, the lake, photography, movies and reading a good book.
